Pour-Over
- Grind: Medium-fine consistency (like beach sand).
- Amount of Coffee: Use 1 gram of coffee per 15-17 ml of water. For example, if you're using 300 ml of water, you would use approximately 18 to 20 grams of coffee.
- Water: Water just off the boil, poured in circular motion.
- End-to-End Process: Grind coffee, rinse filter, add grounds, pour water, saturate grounds, allow water to drip through, serve.
French Press
- Grind: Coarse consistency (like breadcrumbs).
- Amount of Coffee: Use 1 gram of coffee per 15-17 ml of water. For example, if you're using 800 ml of water for 4 cups, you would use approximately 48 to 53 grams of coffee.
- Water: Just off the boil, poured over grounds.
- End-to-End Process: Grind coffee coarsely, add to French Press, pour hot water, steep 4 mins, press down plunger, pour and serve immediately.
Moka Pot (Stovetop Espresso Maker)
- Grind: Medium-fine consistency (slightly finer than table salt).
- Amount of Coffee: Use 1 gram of coffee per 15-17 ml of water. For example, if you're using 200 ml of water in the bottom chamber, you would use approximately 12 to 14 grams of coffee.
- Water: Fill the bottom chamber with cold water up to the valve.
- End-to-End Process: Grind coffee, fill bottom chamber with water, fill funnel with grounds, assemble pot, place on stovetop, listen for gurgling sound, serve immediately.
